The International Cricketing Journey Of Bj. Watling:

Hey guys, we have got the news that Bj. Watling will announce his retirement after the WTC final vs India. So in honor of his career today we will be writing his cricketing journey. Hope you enjoy the post.

Personal Life and Early Cricket:

Bradley-John Watling was born on July 09, 1985, in Durban, South Africa. Watling’s family moved to New Zealand when he was 10 years old. He studies at Hamilton Boys High School he was coached by former test cricketer Chris Kuggeleijn. During his time at school Watling won 2 Gillette cups. He made his Under-19 debut for New Zealand in the 2004 Under-19 world cup. One of his greatest achievements at Hamilton Boys’ High School was contributing to a 200 + run partnership with Daniel Boughtwood, it remains a 1st XI record.

International Carreer:

Watling made his T20 International debut on Nov 12th, 2009 vs Pakistan which unfortunately NZ lost by 49 runs. Watling made his Test debut on 11th December 2009 then on Aug 13th, 2010 made his ODI debut against SL. Then after a 2-year break Watling made his comeback to international cricket in 2012 against Zimbabwe in a test match. Watling would finally cement his place in the New Zealand test side during the 2012/13 tour of South Africa. In a tough series for New Zealand’s batsmen, Watling scored 168 runs, including back-to-back ’50s in the second test. Watling along with Kane Williamson scored the highest 6th wicket partnership in test cricket against Sri Lanka in 2015. Watling has broken many records for NZ in cricket including the highest 7th wicket partnership record in 2019.

Bj. Watling has done many good things for NZ in test cricket. I hope he plays the World Test Championship Final against India and retires on a high note.
