1. Winning in Australia:
This win was a historical one. India had never beaten Australia in Australia. This was the first time in 70 years they beat Australia. From 1948-2016 Australia kept beating India. But history was created when the fourth test in Sydney was called on the fourth day. India won the test series 2-1 and beat Australia for the first time in Indian Cricket History.
2. Most Test Match Wins At Home:
Virat Kohli beat MS. Dhoni’s record of most Test match victories at home when Team India won against New Zealand by 372 runs in the Wankhede stadium. Behind him comes the Great Ms Dhoni, then comes the great Sourav Ganguly.
3. Beating South Africa In Centurion:
India again created history, but this time against South Africa. The Centurion is considered South Africa’s fortress, and no Asian team has ever beaten South Africa at Centurion. The only teams which beat South Africa are England (2000) and Australia (2014). So India was the first Asian team and the third team overall to beat South Africa.
4. 1st Indian/Asian Captain To Win 2 Boxing Day Tests:
Virat Kohli added another record in his kitty by winning the boxing day Test against South Africa. He became the 1st Asian/Indian captain to win two Boxing Day Tests. The first Boxing Day Test was against Australia in 2018, and the second was against South Africa in 2021.
5. Most Wins As Test Captain In Indian Cricket:
Virat Kohli is considered the Greatest test captain Indian Cricket has got because he has 40 wins. Only two other captains in cricket history have more wins than Captain Kohli. And those two men are the great Ricky Ponting and the great Steve Waugh.
6. 1st Indian Captain To Win The 1st Match In South Africa:
Virat Kohli again added another record to his kitty by winning the 1st Test match against South Africa. After winning, he became the first Indian captain to win the first Test match against South Africa in South Africa.
7. First Indian Captain To Win Two Test Matches Against Australia, England And South Africa:
Virat Kohli in 2021 became the first Indian Test captain to win two test matches against Australia, England and South Africa. He achieved this feat when Team India beat South Africa in the Centurion Boxing Day Test.
