The Entire Cricketing Career Of Shane Warne:

SHANE WARNE- 1969-2022:

On March 4th the entire cricketing world witnessed one of the most shocking deaths. The legendary Australian Leg-Spin bowler Shane Warne passed away due to a suspected heart attack in his Villa in Thailand. Apparently, his friends over there called the doctor and did CPR for about 20 minutes but there was no luck. Shane Warne had died. So in today’s post, we will be doing an entire career post in honour of Shane Warne. And by entire career, I mean including T20 leagues like IPL and even domestic cricket. Let’s start the post.

Early Life:

Shane Keith Warne was born in Melbourne Australia on September 13th 1969. He is the son of Bridgette and Keith Warne. His mom was German. He studied in Hampton High School from 7th to 9th. He then got a sports scholarship to attend Mentone Grammar. He finished his schooling in Mentone Grammar.

Club Cricket:

Shane Warne’s first cricket club was the University Of Melbourne Club. in the then Victorian Cricket Association under-16 Dowling Shield competition. He bowled a mix of Leg Spin and Off Spin. He was somewhat like a spin orthodox bowler. Warne then joined the St. Kida Cricket Club near his home suburb of Black Rock. During his off cricket season in 1987, Shane Warne played 5 games of Australian rules football for the St. Kida football club. He continued playing till the last level of football. If he had completed that last level which was in the reserve team then he would have become an Australian footballer. But afterwards, he was delisted from the St. Kidfa football team and then he began focusing on cricket again. Warne around 1991 went to the Australian Cricket Academy in Adelaide.

The Beginning Of A New Era:

Test:

In January 1992 Shane Warne was introduced to the world when he made his Test debut against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground. He however only took about 2 wickets in the Test series.

He was then selected for the Sri Lanka test series. He played the first test of the series and performed terribly in the 1st innings. However, he proved his worth in the second innings when he took the last 3 wickets of the Sri Lankan batting lineup without conceding even 1 run. But after that things went downhill for the legendary bowler. He was dropped from the team after a poor performance in the last 2 tests against SL. But he was then recalled for the 2nd test against WI which was a boxing day test and he didn’t disappoint this time. He took a spectacular 7-52 against them and sealed his place in the Australian test squad. Like they say a NEW YEAR, A NEW BEGINNING. And indeed that was a new beginning for Shane Warne. His success story had just gotten started and we were sure that it wouldn’t end any time soon.

1993 to 1999 The Rise Of Shane Warne:

Shane Warne, as we know took 300+ Test wickets in these six years. The path to 300 wickets started against England in the 1993 ASHES series. He took 34 wickets in the 6 tests Australia played against them. The first ball he bowled in the series is known as THE BALL OF THE CENTURY. This as we all know is the bowl against the experienced English batsman- Mike Gatting where the bowl went well outside the leg stump but to Mike’s surprise is spun in and bowled him. Shane Warne took 71 wickets in 1993, then a record for a spin bowler in a calendar year. In the 1994-1995 Ashes series Shane Warne took his 150th test wicket. Later in 1995 he took 15 wickets in the West Indies tour and helped Australia secure the series and made them win against the WI for the first time in almost 20 years. Like this Warne played more matches and reached 309 wickets, making him the most successful Test bowler. His last Test match was against England in the last Ashes test in 2007 where he scored an awesome 71 and he even took 2 wickets.

Now, since we are done with his ODI’s we are done with his international cricket career. Now let’s talk about his T20s. Now as we know he didn’t play international T20 so we will be talking about the leagues he has played in like IPL. T20 Leagues Shane Warne Has Played In:

He made his T20 Debut on July 19th 2004. It was a 1st class T20 game- Hampshire VS Lancashire at Southampton. Many of his T20 matches were for the Rajasthan Royals from 2008 to 2010. His major T20 record was leading them to victory against Chennai Super Kings in the 2008 DLF IPL finals. Shane Warne didn’t play much T20 cricket. He only played 73 matches. He captained RR from 2008 to 2011 and he even played in the Big Bash League for some time. He captained the Melbourne stars for a season too. His first T20 match was against the Delhi Daredevils, now knows as Delhi Capitals, and his last official T20 match was against Perth Scorchers in the 2012/2013 BBL Semi Finals, which unfortunately Melbourne lost.

Shane Warne was banned from International Cricket( I don’t want to mention why). So, let’s see what he did during that time.

Since ICC allowed Shane Warne to play charity matches, Shane Warne played many charity matches during his ban. Shane Warne returned to international cricket in February, 2004.

So I guess that’s it for this post. Sorry, if I missed any info on Shane Warne.

Thank You Shane Warne for all your contribution to cricket, and all the brilliant wickets you have taken and especially the BALL OF THE CENTURY. Thank You! And Rest In Peace, and we promise you that your legacy will continue.
