The Lata Mangeshkar And Raj Singh Dungarpur Love Story: Part 2:

Hey guys, welcome back to my blog, SlogVlog! I will be continuing the Lata Mangeshkar and Raj Singh Dungarpur posts today. Let’s start!

Sorry for the poor image quality.

Now comes the part which is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. This part is the part which defines friendship in love. Have you all ever wondered about the part in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai where Shah Rukh Khan says-

Pyaar Dosti Hai

Rahul Khanna- Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

If you have, this part of the post will clear your doubts.

Let’s conclude this incredible love story!

Continuation:

When the kind found out, he went berserk. He was mad at Raj Singh, very, very upset and angry. The reasons for this were that Lata was of a different caste different hierarchy, and she was not a part of a royal family like them, and most importantly, she was six years older than the prince. Marrying a girl who is older than you is even now frowned upon in society, and then it was only 1950; it was a crime that Raj Singh committed. The King objected to this marriage because his prince could never marry someone like that.

Raj Singh now had two options.

  1. He could, by marrying her, destroy his family’s heritage. Make them lose their reputation, and give people a chance to disrespect his father and his entire family.
  2.  But, on the other hand, he could lose the woman he loves wholeheartedly, the woman who, for him, comes above everything else.

It is unknown for how long did he fight this personal war. But, ultimately, he came up with a decision that no one expected.

Raj decided he would not marry her, but if he couldn’t marry her, he wouldn’t get married for his whole life. He chose both, or in other words, he decided on neither. By the time he arrived in Mumbai, he had made his decision.

Now it was Lata Mangeshkar’s turn. What was her decision? Would she leave him and marry someone else so that she could start her own family, or would she stick with Raj Singh Dungarpur?

She decided that she would stick with Raj Singh. She wouldn’t marry anyone, and she would only stick with Raj. So this is what happened. Over the years, both Lata and Raj were only friends. Their love could not understand blossom fully, but they were okay with it. Being together didn’t mean going to a temple and getting married. For them, it was all about having each other.

Lata and Raj progressed in their lives. Raj became a lawyer but threw it away and continued playing cricket, while Lata Mangeshkar continued her singing. She climbed through the ranks of Bollywood and became the greatest playback singer Bollywood ever had. She sang in movies like Mughal-E-Azam, Jewel Theif etc.

By the time the 1970s came, she was famous worldwide and was being called for concerts worldwide. She was being called everywhere, except England, because for them, this type of music was worse than five-year-olds singing. Lata Mangeshkar became stubborn; she only wanted to sing in England, and she said her first concert abroad would only be in England and not anywhere in England. She wanted her first concert in the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London. Of course, England didn’t agree to this, but one day suddenly, she got a call from the director of the Albert Hall, and the director asked her to come and perform.

Now I know that you all must be wondering how and, most importantly, why the Albert Hall director would suddenly call Lata Mangeshkar to come and perform. How is it possible? This was all possible because of Raj Singh Dungarpur! I’ll tell you!

What did he do, you may ask? Well, that you can see in the next post! The next part will conclude this beautiful love story,

I’ll continue the rest in the next post, which I am already working on. It will be out next week.

Thank You!
