Hey guys, welcome back to my blog SlogVlog! In today’s post, we will be doing a preview post on the upcoming match between CSK and PBKS.

CSK lost their previous match against RR. RR beat them very convincingly by 32 runs. CSK’s bowling was terrible. In the power play, their bowling has been the worst. And it is in the power play when they get smashed for 65-70 runs. They could have won if they had bowled decent in the power play and saved about 20-30 runs. Their bowling in the middle overs was pretty good, and also in the death. And in batting, their start was stagnant, which was one other reason for them to lose the match. CSK this year has been excellent in the power-play (while batting), but they couldn’t get going in their match against RR. And then they batted extremely slow in the middle overs too, which eventually left them 75 runs to chase in the last four overs, which is extremely difficult. They needed 46 off the last two overs, but of those two overs, they could only score 13 runs. This was a match to forget for CSK.

CSK’s fast bowlers have been the most expensive in the powerplay this season, conceding 10.1 runs per over.

PBKS’s previous match was against LSG; their bowling was dismal. They gave away 74 runs in the powerplay itself, and after that, they could not get breakthroughs at regular intervals. LSG scored a mammoth 257 out of their 20 overs. Punjab, however, tried to fight back with their batting, but chasing 257 was a bit too much as they could only score 201 out of their 20 overs.

So the overall summary was that both teams need to improve their bowling. Their batting is decent, but CSK needs to start scoring in the middle overs.

According to the weather report, it is partly cloudy in Chepauk. The wind speed is 11 KM/H, and the highest temperature is 33 °C, with 18% precipitation and 63% humidity. No rain is expected.

Pitch Report:

The MA Chidambaram stadium is a stadium where people love to defend totals. Dhoni had chosen to bat second in the last two CSK home games because of the dew factor, as it was cloudy in Chennai. In their home game against RR, they lost, there was absolutely no dew at all, and the pitch had become extremely slow towards the second innings. Their home game against SRH, too, was kind of a close encounter. They took 18.4 overs to chase down a target of 138. There was not much dew even in that match. This match being a day game, will definitely not have any dew. Because the match starts at 3:30 and ends by 7:30, so batting first here will make sense because maybe when the pitch is a little worn out, the ball may turn for the spinners even more. Whichever team win the toss should choose to bat first, in my opinion.

Ruturaj Gaikwad VS Arshdeep Singh- Battle To Watch Out For:

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been in phenomenal form in the last 3 IPL’s. He even won the Orange Cap in the 2021 edition. Not many bowlers have been able to trouble Ruturaj Gaikwad, but Arshdeep Singh has troubled Gaikwad. In the 13 deliveries he has bowled to Gaikwad, Gaikwad has gotten out twice.

Prediction:

We are going with CSK to win this match. The Punjab Kings batsmen struggle with spin, and as we know, CSK has a whole spin army. And maybe they can spin their web around the PBKS batsman and restrict them to a low total or defend how much they scored and win the match.
