Hey guys, welcome back to my blog SlogVlog! In today’s post, we will be doing the final preview post of this year’s IPL. Yes, you guessed it right! IT IS THE FINAL OF THE 2023 IPL! And it’s going to be an epic match between the Four-time IPL champions and also now the 10-time IPL finalists- CHENNAI SUPER KINGS who are playing against the Defending Champions- GUJARAT TITANS. The IPL is ending the same way it started. The first match was GT VS CSK in Ahmedabad and the last match is CSK VS GT in Ahmedabad.
Let’s look at both the team’s previous matches-
CSK’s previous match was against GT. Both the teams faced off in the qualifier 1 which happened in Chennai. GT won the toss and elected to bowl first. Even CSK captain MSD wanted to bowl first, but in the post-match interview, he said that it was a good toss to lose.
CSK started off the innings strongly with Ruturaj and Conway, with Conway playing the strike rotator part and Ruturaj playing the aggressive hitter role. CSK’s batting was really good, but like always the kind of slowed down in the middle overs, but again the death they played kind of good and reached a good total of 173. 173 looked like a very easy total to chase as many teams have even chased 200+ scores this year, but Jadeja made sure that that doesn’t happen and he bowled beautifully throughout his spell. In the end, Matheesha Pathirana made Dhoni kind of frustrated with his wides, but the wides didn’t help GT much as they ended up losing by 15 runs. CSK then booked their place in the IPL finals for a record 10th time.
In the post-match presentation, Dhoni gave his statement about whether we would see him next year playing for CSK or not. This is what the legend said-
GT’s previous match was against the 5-time Champions Mumbai Indians. MI won the toss and chose to ball. MI’s bowling was terrible and Shubman Gill wrecked MI’s bowling attack and scored a magnificent 129. Everyone thought that he would be awarded the man of the match award but Mohit Sharma had other plans. When MI was wrecking through GT’s bowling Mohit Sharma came into the attack and then wrecked through MI’s batting lineup and took a brilliant 5-wicket haul and conceded only 10 runs and he achieved this in only 2.2 overs. And he was awarded the POTM award.

According to the weather reports scattered thunderstorms are predicted in Ahmedabad around 8PM. That may cancel the final for today. But good thing is that a final cannot be washed out and the final will be continued on the next day. So not much to be worried about.
Pitch Report:
According to the stats this season the teams defending have won 4 times and the teams chasing have also won 4 times (including the qualifier 2 result). Today as thunderstorms are predicted then of course a good amount of dew will be there. So chasing will be a safe option, but thunderstorms were even there in GT VS MI and GT thrashed MI by 62 runs. So the match depends on how the pitch is during that time of the match and also on the weather conditions.
Head to Head- Mohammad Shami VS CSK Openers:
Mohammad Shami has a great record against the CSK openers. Devon Conway has only scored 12 runs against Shami and Shami has gotten Conway out 3 times. Prediction:
We are going with the 4 time champions CSK. CSK have much more experience in the finals. More experience than any team in the history of the IPL. The experience CSK have in finals is very important for any team, even though they lost majority of finals, every main player in the CSK camp has experience in playing finals and they know about the pressure more then anyone And CSK also beat GT in their previous match. But GT also have a very good chance because Ahmedabad is their home ground. And they have much more practice and they know that ground better than anyone else. So, this match is going to be an exciting one. And it is going to be even more special because this maybe the Legendary Captain CSK Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s of last IPL game and it is also his 250th. May the best team win the 2023 IPL Trophy!
