It’s a battle to stay off the bottom of the table! Chennai Super Kings, the five-time champions, take on last year’s runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad—two of the teams struggling the most this IPL season. Even with top captains like MS Dhoni and Pat Cummins, both sides have failed to find consistent form.
Now, things are getting serious. Both teams must win all 6 of their remaining matches to have even a small chance at making the playoffs. This match could be the one that decides their fate in IPL 2025. It’s do or die from here—let’s see who fights harder to stay alive.

Weather Report:
As usual, it’s going to be really hot in Chepauk, with temperatures between 30°C and 33°C. The good news is that there’s no rain expected, and hopefully it stays that way—because a no result will really hurt both teams’ chances of making the playoffs. It’ll be humid, like always in Chennai, but you usually can’t expect dew to show up in the Yellow Army’s home ground.
Pitch Report:
Spinners have taken 27 out of the 50 wickets that have fallen at Chepauk this year. But CSK haven’t been in a position to exploit that because their own batting has struggled against spin, including in their most recent home game against Kolkata Knight Riders where they gave up six wickets for 55 runs in 12 overs.

Prediction:
Both teams have been struggling this season, but we’re still giving CSK the slight edge in this one. Yes, their fortress at Chepauk has been breached three times in a row, but it’s still Chennai—and they have the highest win percentage at home. Historically, they’re very tough to beat here.
If we compare both sides, CSK clearly have the upper hand when it comes to spin. Their experienced spinners have been performing well, while SRH—mostly known for their power-packed batting—don’t really have a proper spin option apart from Zeeshan Ansari. That puts them at a disadvantage on a pitch like Chepauk’s, which usually helps spin.
SRH’s pace attack hasn’t been great either. They’ve taken the fewest wickets this season and also have the worst economy rate (10.89 runs per over). Right now, their only real strength is their batting. If their big hitters get going, CSK could be in trouble—especially since batting is CSK’s weak link this year.
One more thing: SRH have never beaten CSK in Chennai, and they hold the worst win record at Chepauk. But then again, history hasn’t mattered much this season—RCB and DC both broke long-standing losing streaks in Chennai too. So, anything can happen. May the best team win!
