The International Cricketing Journey Of Mahendra Singh Dhoni

Hey, guys in today’s post I will talk about the cricketing journey of Dhoni.

Childhood:

Mahendra Singh Dhoni was born on July 7th, 1981. He always wanted to become a footballer, He was a goalkeeper. However, when he was about 12 years old the cricket coach of his school saw him goalkeeping and he was very impressed. Then he asked Dhoni whether he would play cricket? Then Dhoni replied no then his coach asked ‘ Why are you scared of the ball?’ Dhoni replied ‘ No’ Then the coach asked Dhoni to come after school hours and try out for wicket-keeping Dhoni said okay and went. Later after school hours, Dhoni went for the tryouts and he got the role of the wicket-keeper for his school team. However Dhoni’s father never really wanted Dhoni to play cricket he wanted him to study so that Dhoni wouldn’t become like him.

Debut For India:

Dhoni made his debut for India on December 23rd, 2004. In his first few matches, he scored less. But in his 5th game, he scored an unbeaten 148 which was the highest score by a WK in ODI’S. Dhoni went on to win everyone’s hearts with his explosive batting. Dhoni in October 2005 went on to beat his record but making a superb 183 runs not out. Then after that innings, Dhoni became one of the greatest finishers of the game.

Captaincy:

Dhoni became captain of the Indian Team in 2007. Later that year as captain he won the inaugural edition of the T20 world cup. Then the Indian team went on to win the commonwealth series against Australia in 2008. Then the biggest win of Dhoni’s entire cricketing carrier came in 2011 when they won the ICC CRICKET WORLD CUP under his captaincy. Then Dhoni created a record in 2013 by winning the Champions Trophy he was the only captain in the history of cricket to have won all 3 major ICC TROPHIES. In 2017 Dhoni Stepped down as captain probably the greatest captain of all time. Dhoni got the nickname “Captain Cool” because he was so calm.

Dhoni retired on August 15th, 2020 from International Cricket. But he still plays in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
