The International Cricketing Journey Of Yuvraj Singh:

Hello guys welcome back to SlogVlog! In today’s post I will be talking about Yuvraj Singh’s career and how he contributed to Indian Cricket.

Early years and personal life:

Yuvraj Singh was in a Punjabi Sikh family to Yograj Singh a former India cricketer, and Shabnam Singh. During his childhood, he loved Tennis and Roller skating, and he was quite good at both. He had also won the National Under-14 Roller Skating Championship. But his father had other plans he wanted to make Yuvraj a cricketer so then he started to take Yuvraj for cricket training every day.

Yuvraj studied at the DAV Public School in Chandigarh.  He completed his graduation degree in Commerce from DAV College, Panjab University.

International Career:

ODI CRICKET:

Yuvraj Singh made his ODI debut in the KnockOut Trophy (Champions Trophy ) pre-quarterfinal on October 3rd, 2000. He bowled four overs conceding 16 runs but did not get to bat. In the quarterfinal against Australia, he won the MOM award (Man Of The Match) for his brilliant 84 runs of 80 balls this inning was made against the likes of Glenn McGrath, Bret Lee and Jason Gillespie.

After the KnockOut trophy, India played a tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. Yuvraj scored just 55 runs in five innings at an average of 11. Yuvraj averaged 15.50 in the ODI series against the touring Zimbabwe side in December 2000 after which he was dropped from the team.

Yuvraj made his comeback in the 2001 coco-cola cup against. In the first four matches he didn’t do good with the bat but in the fifth match he hit a He scored a crucial 98* against Sri Lanka. He did pretty good with the ball he took 8 wickets with an average of 27. Following this he had a poor run against South Africa and was not selected in the team for the home series against England.

After this Yuvraj returned to the domestic circuit and after few good innings, he was called back to the national team at this time they were playing against Zimbabwe. He played the last 2 ODI’s them and he scored 80 and 75 in those 2 ODI’s.

Let us fast forward to the 2011 world cup. Yuvraj Singh had a dream run during this world cup he scored 362 runs with 4 fifties, took 15 wickets and won four MOM awards and was named player of the tournament also. He had a brilliant run in this world cup probably the best run in his entire career. And he did all this when he was diagnosed with Lung Cancer. That’s just an amazing Achievement.

Yuvraj Singh’s final ODI was against West Indies on June 30th, 2017

T20 CRICKET:

Yuvraj Singh made his T20 debut on September 13th 2007 against Scotland in the inaugural edition of the T20 the world cup. He was named as the Vice-Captain at world cup. The most remembered part of this world cup was Yuvraj Singh’s Six Sixes of Stuart Broad. Yuvraj Singh’s last T20 was against England on February 1st 2017.

Yuvraj Singh retired from International Cricket on June 10th, 2019.
