Rahul, Naam to sunaa hoga. Nahi yaar ye wo Shah Rukh Khan wala Rahul nahi hai. Ye hai RAHUL DRAVID THE WALL OF INDIAN CRICKET. Ye hai the batting legend Rahul Dravid. Or aaj Rahul Dravid ka Janam din hai… wait, why am I talking in Hindi? It’s not like I am auditioning for Kuch Kuch Hota part 2? Okay, we are getting off-topic. Let’s just get back to the post. Anyways, let’s wish Rahul Dravid Happy Birthday again, this time in English. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RAHUL DRAVID! Now, as the heading says in this post, I’ll be writing a post on Rahul Dravid as it is his birthday. Let’s get on with the post!

1. 180 VS Australia, Kolkata, 2001:

VVS Laxman’s 281 and Rahul Dravid’s 180 can never be forgotten in Indian cricket history. VVS Laxman who was awarded the MOM award of that match couldn’t have done this without Rahul Dravid. Both of them had health issues. Dravid had been suffering from viral fever and VVS Laxman’s torso was literally twisted to the left side. Both of them batted for about one and a half to two days. They both had an incredible partnership of 376 runs. VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid were praised a lot for this innings. And the legacy of this innings still goes on to date.

2. 233 VS Australia, Adelaide, 2003:

India was once again struggling against Australia but this time in the Aussies’ territory. They were at struggling to avoid the follow on as they were at 85-4. Then Rahul Dravid came and the rest is history which I will narrate now. Rahul Dravid once again saved India with a magnificent 233 in the first innings and saved them from the follow on. And what made this inning even more special was that he had a magnificent 303 run partnership with none other than VVS Laxman, which made us remember the historic win in 2001. This inning was a treat to watch. Then with a target of 230 in the second innings he once again saved India with a superb 72. He led India towards victory. This was India’s first win on Aussie soil in 23 years. He was awarded the Man of the Match award for his excellent batting.

3. 270 VS Pakistan, Rawalpindi, 2004:

India had not won a series in Pakistan for about 15 years. And this time Rahul Dravid didn’t score many runs in the first two tests vs Pakistan. After Sehwag got out Rahul Dravid came in. Then he stayed on for about 6 hours on the crease before getting out when India’s score was 593. In this match, Rahul had a few decent partnerships with the likes of Parthiv Patel, Sourav Ganguly and of course VVS Laxman. This was Rahul Dravid highest test score. India won the match by an innings and 131 runs. Rahul Dravid was of course awarded the Man Of The Match Award.
