That was one of the best days of cricket we’ve witnessed this year—two matches, two absolute thrillers, and pure entertainment from start to finish.
Lucknow Super Giants looked to have Chennai Super Kings in a chokehold after posting 200+, especially considering CSK hadn’t successfully chased a 200-plus target since 2018. But CSK’s batters came out with completely different intentions. After a stellar start, it turned into complete Urvil Patel carnage, as the youngster smashed bowlers all around the park and brought up his maiden Tata IPL half-century in just 13 balls, equalling Yashasvi Jaiswal’s record.
The momentum Urvil gave CSK proved crucial. Although LSG fought back brilliantly and dragged the game till the 20th over—despite it looking like the match would end by the 18th at one stage—CSK held their nerve to complete a memorable chase. A brilliant afternoon game, but somehow, the show-stealer was still yet to come.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Mumbai Indians is always one of the most hyped fixtures in the IPL, and this thriller completely justified the excitement. It turned into a stunning low-scoring contest in Raipur. RCB restricted MI to 166 after a disciplined bowling performance, but Mumbai’s bowling attack responded brilliantly, removing Virat Kohli for a duck and continuing to strike at regular intervals.
But the man who kept RCB alive was Krunal Pandya. Cramping, exhausted, and under immense pressure, he still fought through the pain and played a magnificent knock of 73, dragging Bengaluru closer and closer to victory.
Then came the chaos of the final over. RCB needed 16, and the inexperienced Raj Bawa was handed the ball. A couple of wides to begin with increased the tension, but then he struck a massive blow by dismissing Romario Shepherd, making it seem like the game had swung firmly in Mumbai’s favour.
But cricket is never that simple.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar walked in and smashed the very first ball he faced for six, suddenly reducing the equation to 3 off 2. A quick single followed, bringing Rasikh Salam on strike with 2 needed off the final delivery. Rasikh hit it straight back to Bawa, but under pressure, he misfielded—and RCB scampered back for two runs to seal a dramatic win.
And now, as we speak, Bengaluru proudly sit at the top of the points table.
What a double-header this was—two classics involving three of the league’s biggest teams. A day IPL fans will remember for a very long time.
We’ve officially entered the final 15 matches of the league stage, and tonight brings us Match 55 of this season’s Tata IPL—a crucial clash between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals.
The stakes couldn’t be bigger. If PBKS win, they move to the top of the table. If DC win, their playoff hopes stay alive. That’s how intense this season has become. The 2026 IPL is turning into an absolute nail-biting classic as the race to the playoffs heats up with every passing game.
And to make things even better, the league returns to what many fans consider the most beautiful cricket stadium in India—and one of the most stunning venues in the world—the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in the breathtaking city of Dharamshala.

Pitch and Weather Conditions:
This is arguably the most beautiful stadium in the country, but do the conditions here favour the bowlers or the batsmen? Well, just like most venues in India, the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala is generally a batting-friendly ground. It is a fast-paced surface that offers plenty for the batters, although the pacers do get some assistance early on with extra bounce and movement because of the high altitude and the cool alpine breeze. Add to that the relatively short boundaries, and clearing the ropes here is never too difficult.
The average first-innings score at this venue has been close to 180, and interestingly, teams defending totals have enjoyed more success here than sides chasing. That has been the trend in Dharamshala. However, looking at the overall conditions tonight, chasing could still be the better option, especially with rain predicted throughout the week and thunderstorms expected tomorrow.
It is a cold evening with absolutely beautiful weather for cricket. All everyone will be hoping for now is that the rain stays away, because it would be a real shame if such an important game gets washed out, especially at one of the most stunning cricket stadiums in the world.
Prediction:
Both teams are coming into this clash on the back of disappointing defeats, and both will be desperate to bounce back strongly. Punjab Kings have now lost three games in a row, while Delhi Capitals are currently on a two-match losing streak.
However, we are backing PBKS to get the job done against DC in Dharamshala. Despite the recent losses, Punjab have been one of the more consistent teams this season and have played some excellent cricket overall. Yes, the three consecutive defeats are a concern, but when you compare their overall campaign to Delhi’s, PBKS still look like the stronger and more settled side.
Delhi, meanwhile, remain stuck on 8 points, four behind the team above them, which only increases the pressure on this game. And pressure combined with inconsistency is rarely a good mix in a tournament as competitive as the IPL.
For Punjab, the situation is much calmer. Even if they lose, they remain firmly in the playoff race. But if they win, they reclaim the top spot from RCB and return to the position they have occupied for the majority of the season — right at the top of the table.
