Tata IPL M39- DC face RCB Challenge:

What an absolute thriller we had last night—goodness me. It was a classic low-scoring contest that ended in a tie, giving us our first Super Over of the 2026 season. LSG needed 7 off the final ball, meaning 6 to tie, and everyone thought it was over—except Mohammad Shami. That man launched a 151 km/h delivery over long-off with ease.

These LSG vs KKR clashes are always so dramatic and thrilling to watch. The first time, we saw Mukul Choudhary magic; this time, it was Rinku Singh magic. And what an over bowled by Sunil Narine in the Super Over—conceding just one run and taking two wickets, bowling LSG out in the first three balls. It was a brilliant decision by Ajinkya Rahane to hand him the ball.

After that, it was only fitting for Rinku Singh to walk out and finish the job. Two records were broken last night: the lowest total in a Super Over—just 1 run by LSG—and the fastest chase in a Super Over, with KKR scoring 2 runs in just one ball.

Lovely stuff. The IPL is known for thrillers like this. Cricket truly is unpredictable—one day it gives us 980+ runs, and the next it humbles us with back-to-back low-scoring games. This game is beautiful.

Now on to tonight’s game—we’re back in Delhi as DC face off against RCB. The last match played here saw a staggering 529 runs scored. KL Rahul’s brilliant 152* off 67 balls is now the third-highest individual score in IPL history and the highest by an Indian. That record was previously held by—you guessed it—KL Rahul himself, when he scored 132* off 69 balls for PBKS against RCB. The man broke his own record—how good do you have to be to do that?

But in the game before that, PBKS absolutely dominated and dismantled DC’s bowling attack. A few dropped catches by Karun Nair proved costly, as PBKS went on to chase down 265—the highest successful run chase in IPL history. That record, once again, was previously held by—you guessed it—PBKS, when they chased 262 against Shreyas Iyer’s KKR back in 2024.

Anyway, coming back to tonight’s clash—DC are in desperate need of a win. RCB, not as much, but they’ll still be looking to strengthen their hold on second place as we head into the second half of the tournament. And one thing’s for sure—Virat Kohli won’t want to lose at his home ground.

Enough talk—let’s get into the preview!

Pitch and Weather Conditions:

This game will be played on Pitch No. 5, where GT made 210 earlier this season and DC fell short by one run in a last-ball thriller. In the four games played on this mixed-soil pitch since IPL 2025, the average first-innings score has been 197, so you can expect another high-scoring match.

Prediction:

We’re going with RCB to take this match. They’ve played exceptionally well this season, and it looks like they have the edge over DC tonight. Yes, DC beat them in their last meeting, but that was a few games ago, and DC have since suffered a setback with Lungi Ngidi—arguably their best pacer—likely to miss out.

We also saw how DC’s bowling lineup struggled in their last game, failing to defend 265 against PBKS. While every bowling unit can have an off day, not being able to defend such a big total at home raises concerns about how they handle strong batting lineups—and RCB’s batting is as destructive as it gets.

That said, DC certainly have a chance. If the IPL has taught us anything, it’s that anything can happen. But for DC to win, their bowlers need to step up—significantly. With every match now crucial to their playoff hopes, they can’t afford another off day.

RCB are not unbeatable—DC have already beaten them once this season. If they can replicate that performance, this could turn into a very close contest.

If you want to see Virat Kohli play on his home ground tonight, then tune into JioHotstar at 7:30 PM IST.

Until next time!

Thank you.
