Tata IPL M40- Powerplay battle awaits as PBKS take on RR

What a game for RCB last night. We haven’t seen a collapse like that in years—at least not in the last 7–10 seasons. RCB’s bowling completely dismantled DC’s batting lineup. At one stage, DC were reeling at 8/6, and it genuinely felt like RCB’s record for the lowest IPL total—49—was about to be broken.

However, DC managed to crawl past that mark, eventually finishing on 75, thanks to Abhishek Porel and a bit of support from David Miller. But even that wasn’t enough to make a contest out of it. Their bowlers had no answers as RCB comfortably chased down the modest target of 76 in just 6.3 overs.

This was complete domination from RCB. It’s hard to believe that a team which scored 264 on the same ground just two days ago ended up managing only 75. From here, DC’s road looks extremely tough, while RCB’s campaign seems firmly on track.

I think we can all forget about that game and move on, because today’s clash promises to be very different. It’s a battle between two batting powerhouses, as RR take on the seemingly invincible PBKS in Mullanpur.

This is shaping up to be a great contest—RR need this win, while PBKS are unbeaten and will be looking to keep it that way.

Let’s get into the preview!

PBKS Won-13
RR Won-17
No Result-0

Pitch and Weather Conditions:

Pitch no. 4 in New Chandigarh was the one where PBKS met Gujarat Titans, chasing down a target of 163 in a relatively tight finish. Dew is a factor in night games at this venue, and even though chasing looks advantageous at first glance, the numbers say otherwise – the team batting first has won two of the last three games on this strip after posting 205 and 228. The toss decision will be a head-scratcher.

Prediction:

We’re going with PBKS to take the win tonight against RR. Both teams have played good cricket, but PBKS are on another level right now. Chasing down 265 with overs to spare says everything about the kind of form they’re in.

PBKS do need to tighten up their bowling a bit, but their batting has been more than good enough to compensate, so it’s not a major concern at the moment.

RR, on the other hand, had a strong start to the tournament, much like PBKS, but they haven’t been able to maintain that momentum. Inconsistency has crept into their performances, and their biggest issue remains the same—the lack of depth in their batting. It feels like RR don’t have much beyond their top order. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Dhruv Jurel have been carrying the batting lineup.

Captain Riyan Parag hasn’t contributed enough with the bat, managing just 88 runs in 8 innings at a strike rate of 112. The middle order, including players like Shimron Hetmyer, hasn’t stepped up either. While RR do have a solid bowling attack, their weak middle order could be exposed—especially against a team like PBKS, who are likely to capitalise on it

If you want to see the Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh take on the 15 year old Sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal, then tune into JioHotstar at 7:30 PM IST.

Until next time!
